What is The Internet and how does it operate?
Internet is computer network that connects together globally
providing variety of information, in which any computer can communicate with
any other computer as long as they are both connected to the Internet.
Internet is a global network of computers and each computer that
are connected to the Internet must have a unique address that is known as IP address.
They are in the form nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn where nnn must be a number from 0 – 255. For
example, when you want to send email, each stack layer that the message passes
through may break the message up into smaller chunks of data known as packets. These
packets travel through a cable called a router then the router send the packets
along to their destination. When there is no congestion, the packets move to
their destination place without difficulty and delay. When there are too many
packets moving through a junction, random packets drop and caused delay for few
seconds for it to arrives.

What is World Wide Web

Types of connection
· Wireless
Wireless or Wi-Fi uses radio frequency to
connect to the internet instead of using telephone lines and cables. Speeds
will vary, and the range is between 5 Mbps to 20 Mbps.
· Cellular
Cellular technology provides internet
access to mobile phone and the speeds also vary depending on the provider such
as 3G and 4G speeds. 3G speeds are only around 2.0 Mbps while 4G is around 21 Mbps
currently.
· Satellite
Satellite connection has a slower speed
than a broadband however, it is stable. It provides an uninterrupted connection
but due to its very far distance from the users, it transmits data slower than
normal.
